 Question

What is the aim of life?

 Sri Sri Swamiji's Response

The world is now plagued with acts of terrorism; many lose lives due to such acts. To add to this, we have natural calamities striking every now and then, leaving a gory trail of lost lives. We find in this world, there are many whose spouse is not loving and caring. Their whole life goes 'lifeless' because of this. If spouse is loving and caring, the children may not be, adding to woes of life. There is always a threat to body in form of diseases which attack unexpectedly.

If we look around, we find so many carrying a heavy load to earn a few rupees every day. Many toil in hot sun with boiling tar to lay roads. While we feel disgusted with our own sweat and excreta, there are many who get into the gutters to clean them to earn a few rupees everyday. Many are devoid of function of a sense organ like speech or vision or limbs. Even if all these are taken care of, with good health, decent living and living family, many do not even understand the transient nature of life and waste their life in sense pleasures.

Seeing all the turmoil in this world with our body, with our surroundings and so much sorrow in the world, would we want to come back again and again in this world?

So should not the aim of life be to stop this vicious cycle of birth and death? The aim is to liberate ourselves from all these pains isn't it?

To chant the Divine Name with gratitude and love, to love the Lord with all our heart when we are reasonably comfortable in life. -- should this not be the aim of life?

So, chanting the Name of Lord, chanting the mahamantra when we are still hale, healthy and fit, with humility, faith and love – That should be the aim in life.

It is incorrect to believe that God has a special preference for any one language. Numerous devotees have sung and spoken to the Lord in their respective native languages and won His grace.
