Once it has been established that creation is only to attain Liberation the next step is to
seek the way to attain it.
If we try to seek the way to liberation through our petty mind we would stand cheated. This is because our mind is finite. It is conditioned. The mind sways according to situation. Therefore, no benefit will be reaped by adopting methods
deemed right by the mind. The Vedas is verily the breath of the Lord. It is divine. It has not been authored by man. Therefore, it is not coloured by the mind. It is not biased. It is eternal. In general, it speaks for the good of all.
Thus, the Lord also says in the Gita, ‘tasmAt shAstram pramANantE kAryAkArya vyavastithou’. That is, the Shaastras are the testimony for the rightness of an action.
This also applies to choosing the path to Liberation. Mahans also opine the same
in their Texts. That is, they do not lay any claim to the path shown by them;
instead, say that it is the path shown by the Vedas. Valmiki the author of Ramayana and Veda Vyasa the author of Srimad Bhagavatam and the Mahabharata speak
this way in their Texts. That is, they say, “I have spoken only the words of the Vedas.” The great Seer Bhagavan
Sri Ramana Maharishi also says that nothing which is not found in the Surti [the Vedas] will ever fall from his lips.
Therefore, for attainment of Liberation we have no recourse other than following a way shown by the Vedas.
