Bhagavatam study circles are organized in different places in order to learn and discuss in detail verses from Bhagavatam, as learnt from the courses.
Wednesday Bhagavatam Study Circle
Schedule
A nation-wide study-circle is conducted on every Wednesday evening (8:30-9:30 pm Central) by the Dallas GOD Satsang, where different aspects of Bhagavatam are discussed. The Study Circle is in Tamil language.
Content
Participants take up one chapter from the first canto of Srimad Bhagavatam and expound it, based on Mahatmas’ expositions, specifically Sri Sri Swamiji’s elucidations.
In addition, 20 minutes is dedicated to learning the 5 Stutis from Bhagavatam, in the order – Kunti Stuti, Bhishma Stuti, Dhruva Stuti, Prahlada Stuti, Gajendra Stuti.
One sloka is taken from the currently running Stuti and the word-by-word meaning as well as the import are explained. Kunti Stuti, Bhishma Stuti and Dhruva Stuti have already been covered and currently, Prahlada Stuti is being learnt.
In addition, from June 2010- September 2010, Sri Muraliji, a disciple of HH Sri Sri Muralidhara Swamiji and an expert in Srimad Ramayana, renders discourses on the bhaavas and rasaas in Srimad Ramayana for 40 minutes during every Study Circle Seesion.
The study circle starts with Mahamantra Kirtan and ends with Mahamantra Kirtan. Followed by a quick roll-call, the first part of the study circle (which is currently discourses on Ramayana) takes place, which is followed by the ‘Stuti-Paatah’ (learning the stutis).
Volunteers are solicited every week to lead the Nama Sankirtan and to repeat the Stutis that are being learnt.
